Trends: Water gardening
The wetter report... The other day the lovely Mrs. Y declared that this Spring's home improvement endeavor should include a water garden in the backyard. Rather than deciding that she is all wet (Get it? All wet?), I did what I always try to do when the lovely Mrs. Y declares something, and replied, "OK, dear." That, friends, is just one reason I have called the lovely Mrs. Y my wife and companion for more than two and a half decades. But my New Age Sensitive Man impression is not the point of this latest entry in the GCP&S newsletter series. Nay, verily, I would suggest that you, too, will hear declarations from a bevy of Mrs. Ys this year, each deciding that they have a fondness for pondness. When that happens, you'll need to know something more about the water feature.

Lucky for you, there are virtually limitless resources on the subject, three of which I would like to recommend today. Aquascape Designs has news you can use, whether you are a retailer, landscaper, contractor, journalist or consumer. The site covers practically every facet of the water gardening industry. Siskel and Roper give it two enthusiastic wet thumbs up! For education on the subject, a great resource is a Web site hosted by Certified Aquascape Contractors. Here you'll find answers to commonly asked questions, some of which you might ask yourself. If it's simply supplies you are seeking, Discount Pond Supplies has an online catalog that features the gamut. For those who don't speak water gardening, that means "just about anything you could need" to create a water feature. Perhaps you have a favorite water gardening source or resource and would like to share. Please log into our blog and tell us what you know. And, by all means, please check out the rest of these GCP&S e-Zone features...

Riddle me this...
There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word — from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?
(Scroll down for the answer.)
