Riddle me this...
A woman shoots her husband, then holds him under the water for over 5 minutes, then she hangs him. Three minutes later they go out to eat together ... how can this be?
(Scroll down for the answer.)
Trends: Apparel
Dressed for success...
This go-round, we focus on material things — literally. The way I figure it, there are two types of customers who will benefit from the fact that you carry apparel in your store: the person who wants to look like a gardener and the person who actually gets her fingernails dirty. That makes apparel appealing from a shop owner's perspective, because odds are good that the people who visit — as well as those who frequent — your garden center fall into one category or the other. Then there's the lovely Mrs. Youngblood, who can garden with the best of them AND who thinks garden-themed attire is fashion-riffic even when she trades fingernail dirt for fingernail polish (Cajun Shrimp is one HOT color, by the by!).
If you've searched for sources for practical attire, you've likely discovered Sloggers, which is the apparel brand from Principle Plastics, a company that started 55 years ago as a manufacturer of gardening shoes. The product lines have grown over the decades to include hats, vests, shirts, pants, aprons and even "the like." Speaking of like, the aforementioned Mrs. Y has a particular fondness for the shirts from The Mountain. The company specializes in T-shirts with nature themes and offers hundreds of designs that range from remarkably realistic to whimsical. For a good look at "what's out there," we recommend the consumer-focused site, PriceGrabber.com. Here you can see comparative prices for apparel products of all sorts, as well as read reviews from customers who have purchased product. Hopefully, people have purchased product of the apparel ilk from you. If so, and if you have a tip for fellow garden center operators on how to serve the needs of the real gardener and the person who wants to look like a real gardener, click here to go to our blog. We would love to know what you think about this subject.
We also would love for you to visit the rest of this page, which contains highlights from the May issue of GCP&S. Happy surfing!

Puzzling pictures
Decisions, decisions...
One of the pictures below is a puzzle that will reveal the meaning of life. Or at least the meaning of something. Choose the right photo and then piece the product together again. If you do, you’ll almost certainly be the person others will want to copy during the next exam.

Oh, yeah, the riddle answer...
(Insert rim shot here)...
The lady was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, then hung it up to dry.
