Riddle me this...
George, Helen, and Steve are drinking coffee.
Bert, Karen, and Dave are drinking soda.
Using logic, is Elizabeth drinking coffee or soda?
(Scroll down for the answer.)

Trends: Pets and related products
The "Dog" Days of Summer ... There is a movement afoot — or, perhaps more specifically, apaw — whereby garden centers are venturing into the growing pet supply market. It makes sense — garden centers are evolving into "Home" centers, and pets play a vital role in many homes. On any given shopping spree, your customer's "to buy" list might include plants, decoratives and pet care products.

You can make the process easy by offering all of those in one handy-dandy location. Country Mile Gardens in Township, N.J., has parlayed an eclectic product mix into 25 years of business success. (Check out the Bird Feeders, Pet Food link.) Lest you think this is just a fad, consider that a Web search of the words "pet supplies" recently yielded 116 million options, including gourmet dog treats that look so good your customers will be hard pressed not to buy them.

Perhaps you have tried marketing pet supplies and related products at your garden center. We would like to know what works for you? Click here to go to our blog, which has gone to the dogs — this month anyway. Speaking of this month any way, we think there is no better way to look at this month's edition of GCP&S than to check out the highlights of the July issue below.

Puzzling pictures
This one? Or that?... One of the pictures below is a puzzle that, when solved, will reveal the key to eternal happiness... would you believe the key to a new Honda?... how about a song sung in the right key? Anyway, choose the proper photo and then piece the product together again. If you do, you’ll almost certainly be the key person at the next MacGyver convention.

Oh, yeah, the riddle answer...
(Insert rim shot here)... Elizabeth is drinking coffee. The letter E appears twice in her name, as it does in the names of the others that are drinking coffee.
