Word-of-mouth has big influence on shopping
Word-of-mouth has a big influence on electronics and apparel purchases, according to a survey released by the Retail Advertising and Marketing Assoc. (RAMA). "With the strong influence that product reviews and word-of-mouth are making in buying decisions, it's no wonder that many retailers are exploring viral marketing to attract customers this holiday season," said RAMA executive dir. Mike Gatti. Viral marketing spreads news about products using pre-existing social networks and often employs new types of media. The RAMA survey showed that 69.2% of consumers between the ages of 18-35 regularly use a cell phone, 37.9% regularly use instant messaging and 32.3% use an mp3 player. Add to that another challenge for advertisers: 22.6% of this age group regularly use digital video recording, like TiVo, to record and replay TV shows, often skipping commercials.

Each president will be honored with a single $1 coin, regardless of the number of consecutive terms he served.
