Bulb suppliers form alliance Bulb distributor K. Van Bourgondien & Sons Inc., which has facilities in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands, has formed a strategic alliance with DeRee Holland B.V. in Lisse, Netherlands. The alliance will operate under the holding company BouRee and under the credo "Perfect Partners in the Blooming Business." BouRee expects to make considerable growth in new markets, especially Asia. It is seeking to increase global market share to 25% within 5 years.

Fine Americas introduces Concise Fine Americas Inc. is offering Concise plant growth regulator for use on annuals, perennials, flowering and foliage pot plants and bulb crops. It contains 0.055% uniconazole and is formulated as a soluble concentrate, which can be applied as a foliar spray, drench, dip and growing media spray. In addition to keeping plants compact, it improves color and leaf thickness, causes stronger stems, improves stress tolerance and increases flower size and count.
PCNB products available during U.S. EPA review U.S. EPA issued a re-registration eligibility document (RED) for pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB). Chemtura Corp. said that its PCNB-containing fungicide products Terraclor, Terraclor Super X and Turfcide can be legally sold and used according to label directions during the RED review process. All existing stock will continue to be sold until a time yet to be determined. The comment period on the fungicide ends Oct. 2, 2006. No final decision nor action will be taken by U.S. EPA until completion of the final review of all comments and supportive scientific data.
Outreach seminar to focus on energy options, savings OFA is conducting an outreach seminar focusing on energy in cooperation with Okla. Greenhouse Grower Assoc., Sept. 27 in Oklahoma City. The seminar is also sponsored by GMPRO. Scheduled speakers are Univ. of Ga. professors Paul Thomas and Forrest Stegelin. Topics include alternative energy sources and how to separate the practical and financial fact from hype; energy conservation technologies and strategies for producing quality crops; and assessing a company's energy risks and how to calculate costs and savings.
