It’s August, which for many parts of the country is the hottest time of the year. So the last thing on your mind is probably heating your greenhouses. But maybe it should be since cooler temperatures are not that far away.

For most growers labor is still their biggest cost. But over the last few years, rising heating bills have had a major impact on many growers’ bottom line. Increasing heating efficiency to lower fuel costs has become a high priority.

So while the weather may be heating up outside your greenhouses, now is a good time to review what growers, industry manufacturers and researchers suggest doing to maintain proper greenhouse temperatures when outdoor temperatures start to drop.
