It’s a trying shipping season at
Greene Family Nursery. In fact, it’s the shipping season that almost isn’t.
The nursery usually finds a
reliable supply of common carriers to deliver its products. This year is an
exception. A local Teamsters strike is in full force, and high fuel prices have
put many of the independent truckers the nursery relies on out of business.
It doesn’t matter if you’re
shipping nursery crops, asparagus or light bulbs, this year the truck supply has
just dried up. What
