This month we tackle a vital, but often overlooked, success factor for most nurseries: the shipping yard.

Years ago when visiting growers, it was common for them to brag on how many trees they could dig or how many liners they could pot per hour. Now it seems like more are bragging on how many trucks they can load per day.

Most nurseries have realized what a huge bottleneck shipping can be. It doesn’t matter how many plants you can grow if you can’t get them off the property. Many growers have taken big steps to eliminate this problem.
