Aster tataricus Blue Lake' is a patented variety from Hines Nurseries. It produces sky-blue, daisylike flowers with bright-yellow centers late spring through fall. Bloom period is much earlier than the species, which typically starts flowering in late summer.

'Blue Lake' is compact, reaching just 18 inches high, and grows best in full sun or part shade. It's hardy to USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9 and is drought tolerant.
