Do you sometimes wish you could spend more time on the road, exploring the ways other successful businesses do what you do? There's plenty to learn out there, but you have your own business to run. To help you out, we thought we'd share some of the things we see in our own travels. Take a quick look at some things we think are worth sharing — including the Dallas Arboretum field trials.

Select:

Jimmy Turner’s Trial by Flower
Jimmy Turner (pictured), director of horticulture research at the Dallas Arboretum, performs extensive trials each year. He hosted a field day June 27 with almost 500 in attendance. Turner revealed the top performers in his trials. Brent Pemberton, horticulture professor at Texas A&M also provided highlights of his trials. And Jim Nau, manager of Ball Horticultural Co.’s gardens in Chicago presented his top performers.

Hot peppers for hot summers
Ornamental peppers consistently rank high on Turner’s trial awards list. Turner doesn’t mince words when it comes to plant performance, and he praises plants that survive the Hades-like summers in North Texas.

AAS Site
The Dallas Arboretum is an All-America Selections trials site. It’s the only AAS trial garden in Texas.

AAS winners
There are lots of AAS winners featured at the Dallas Arboretum, including Rudbeckia hirta ‘Prairie Sun,’ a 2003 winner.
