When we were brainstorming ideas for a yearlong series of articles in 2007, the Garden Center Magazine staff had a lot of ideas. We finally boiled them down to seven solid concepts, but we needed help selecting one after that.

So I got on the phone with several retailers to run the list by them. I asked for their favorite two or three out of the list. A funny thing happened. Every single one of them wanted a series on store design.

Later I called back those original retailers, and a few more besides, to find out what type of design issues they were grappling with. Their responses became the 12 topics for 2007.

Several top American retail designers and merchandisers have agreed to participate in the series. Think Pottery Barn. Think Barnes & Noble. Think Target.

I think the series will be the best we’ve had yet.

Let's get started! To view the topics in this series, select from the list  on the navigation bar. Each link becomes active as we publish the magazine each month.
