IDuring 2004 GMPRO looked at the Ultimate Greenhouse and its various components. This year we put the spotlight on the real stars of the floral industry -- the plants. We will focus on the Rising Stars, those up-and-coming plants that are growing in popularity among growers and consumers.

To determine which plants are Rising Stars, the editorial staff of GMPRO surveyed plant breeders, specialty propagators and commercial growers to find out which plants they predict will increase in demand. The votes were tabulated and we’re ready to present the results throughout 2005.

Starting this month, GMPRO presents the plant that was voted by industry experts to be No. 12. In the February issue, we’ll reveal No. 11, and so on, until we get to the December issue when we will announce the No. 1 Rising Star.

We’d like to hear from you in regards to which plants you think will be your Rising Stars. We’ll tabulate the results and at the end of the year we’ll let you know which plants received the most votes from our readers. Send your plant choices to GMPRO editor David Kuack at dkuack@branchsmith.com or fax (817) 882-4121.

Who will be the Top 12 Rising Stars? Stay tuned to GMPRO for the winning plants.
