No REIs for G&G
Restricted-entry intervals (REIs) have never been a problem for G&G Nursery. That's because the company has never used pesticides other than what's available over the counter.
"Over the year's we've had a good handle on weed and pest problems. We've never had to do much more than spot treat here or there for anything," co-owner Don Merritt said.
While dogwoods are the company's No. 1 crop, anthracnose has never been identified in the company's fields. The company inspects for the disease twice a year.
Powdery mildew can become problematic and the company has a regularly scheduled program to prevent that disease.
