Retrofitting? Make sure you still meet code
If you're retrofitting new equipment into an existing greenhouse, make sure the addition will still allow you to meet building codes.
Much modern equipment is attached to greenhouse trusses rather than placed on the floor. Some examples are irrigation booms, hanging basket watering systems and retractable shade and heat-retention curtains.
Make sure your greenhouse is structurally strong enough to support this new equipment, said Ed Goldsmith, Stuppy Greenhouse Manufacturing engineering manager. By retrofitting, your greenhouse might have to comply with new building codes that weren't in existence when the greenhouse was originally constructed.
