Have you ever wondered if your products really are more expensive than everyone else’s in your area? Or worse, a lot cheaper?

Each year, Garden Center Magazine gathers prices from all over the country for seven common garden center products. After we calculate a national average of each product’s price, we then average the prices for eight regions in the 48 continental states. This year, we deliberately chose products that were included in one of the past three Spring Price Surveys so we could measure any shifts in pricing.

The second half of the survey changes from year to year. For 2006, we asked our readers how they budget for their store. We were curious how many of you operate off a budget, and if so, how extensively you do so.

This year, 172 retailers completed the survey.
