It went from one weather extreme to the other at Westcan Greenhouses in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Spring was cooler and wetter than normal until Mother’s Day, when it turned drier than normal, said production manager Nadine Leather. Langley experienced some record-breaking high temperatures, as well. Westcan trialed geraniums, New Guinea impatiens and mixed baskets including Ball’s Simply Beautiful varieties and ornamental grasses supplied by Pepindale Nursery in Aldergrove, B.C. Consumers visiting the trial gardens were most interested in Fischer’s ‘Vision Yellow’ New Guinea impatiens, Leather said.
