Bruce Briggs was selected as the 1999 NMPRO Nursery Grower of the Year by a panel of five of his industry peers who submitted names of candidates.panel members were:

  • Dale Deppe of Spring Meadow Nursery Co., Grand Haven, Mich.

  • Janet Rademacher of Mountain States Nursery, Glendale, Ariz.

  • Jack Long of J&L Nursery Co., Silverton, Ore.

  • J. Frank Schmidt Jr. of J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co., Boring Ore., the 1997 Grower of the Year.

  • William Flemer III of Princeton Nurseries, Allentown, N.J., the 1998 Grower of the Year.

    • The criteria for selection were:

  • Must be a grower.

  • Industry involvement essential.

  • Must have made some outstanding contribution.

  • Must be innovative: growing, breeding, propagation, marketing, personnel, company turnaround or other recognized feat.

  • Still living.
