Return to 1999 NMPRO Nursery Grower of the Year.

Each year, Briggs Nursery announces a selection of outstanding plants from the nursery's production line as excellent for growers. These Grower's Choice plants are selected on the basis of ease in growing and maintenance, finishing well, and attractiveness to the end-consumer.

Here are five of Briggs' 1999 Grower's Choice selections:

Briggs' 2000 Plant of the Year: Rhododendron 'Northern Starburst,' a selection hardy to minus 30F with lavender-pink flowers and rich, purple-black winter foliage dusted with brown flecks. Photo by Michael S. Thompson

Rhododendron 'Kalinka,' Grower's Choice for 2000.

Hosta 'Little Sunspot,' a Briggs Nursery introduction.

Helleborus 'Royal Heritage,' Briggs' 1999 Plant of the Year.

Caryopteris 'First Choice,' an introduction for spring 2000.
