Green peach aphid (Myzus persicae); melon aphid (Aphis gossypii); chrysanthemum aphid (Macrosiphoniella sanborni)

Crime report

Aphids have piercing and sucking mouthparts that remove plant fluids and inject toxins into plants. Feeding causes leaf curling or distortion. Aphids also secrete honeydew, which encourages the production of black sooty mold.

Aphids attack hundreds of host plants including chrysanthemum, dahlia, heuchera, gerbera, impatiens, pansy, phlox, portulaca, salvia, snapdragon, verbena and viola.
